so, i have a liquid cooling system that needs a usb 2.0 header to function "correctly". Themotherboard eduras 84fd (of my omen obelisk desktpp) does not seem to have any and I was therefore wondering, since it uses the same 9 pin, if the light bar header can be used. I was also wondering that if it doesnt, maybe if i were to put a usb hub on it if it would work

Hi
Check here for your motherboard https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06124984
The image is not very clear. I would be wary of using the lighting control module header. Does the missing pin on this MB header match a USB 2.0 10 - 1 pin female connector? You could damage the motherboard and the component.
I don't see any open PCIe X1 or X4 slots. One of these slots would have been useful to add internal USB 2.0 connection's.
The front I/O should be a USB 3.0 connection, can't verify from the motherboard image at the above link. USB 3.0 uses a 20 pin connection. You might be able to find a USB3.0 to 2.0 header adapter but you would sacrifice front USB in this case.
I would go with an air cooler that fits in your case. Or look at a AIO liquid cooler without USB. Sadly you lose ability to control fan and pump parameters'.

Hi
My pleasure
A local PC tech might be able to check the pinouts (power, data, ground) on the MB header to see if is wired the same as a USB 2.0 connector.
USB pinout are as follows:
Pin
Number(IDC)PinName Description Port
1 | VBus | +5V Power | 1 |
3 | D1- | USB Data | |
5 | D1+ | ||
7 | GND | Ground for Power | |
9 | No Pin | Space of Filled Keying | |
2 | VBus | +5V Power | 2 |
4 | D1- | USB Data | |
6 | D1+ | ||
8 | GND | Ground for Power | |
10 | DRAIN | Ground for Shield Drain |
