i got omen desktop with a motherboad IPM17-TP  that has i7 7700 i want to upgrade to i9 9900k  since they both lga1151  would it work

Your PC's motherboard only supports up to the Intel 7th gen core processors, so an  i9 9900k processor has no chance of working.

The i7-7700K should work.

 

I doubt anything better will work.
