Hey there I was wondering if I should use the x5680 or x5687 to upgrade my hp z800. I’m trying to game on it and wonder if I should go for higher clock speed or core count. I’m also running a dual cpu set up so that’s why I’m asking if I should worry about cores.

@Hassan87,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

If the question is between the Xeon x5680 vs. the Xeon x5687:

Xeon X5680 (6-Cores, 12-Threads, 3.33 GHz up to 3.60 GHz)

Gaming: 74% / Desktop: 75% Workstation: 62%: Average: 74.5%

Xeon X5687 (4-Cores, 8-Threads, 3.60 GHz, up to 3.86 GHz)

Gaming: 74% / Desktop: 77% Workstation: 57%: Average 73.5%

Specifically with gaming in mind, I would go with the X5687 which has the higher clock speed, and even with two less Cores, it wouldn't matter much if at all.

Kind Regards,
