Product: HP Z820 Base Model Workstation
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hi,
A friend gifted me a Z820 from the US, but I noticed an error at startup saying that CPU Fan 2 is not detected.
I checked the air shroud and didn’t find a second CPU fan. Nonetheless, I ordered the same fan as the one on CPU 1 and installed it, but the issue remains.
I’m not an expert, but here’s what I tried:
- Updated the BIOS and all available updates.
- Tried all the solutions I could find here and elsewhere.
- Tested the new fan by pulling it out of the air shroud while keeping the cable connected (No.5), and then connecting it to other nearby connectors on the motherboard, and it was running in all 3 ways.
- Changed some settings in the BIOS/Setup Utility but had no luck, so I restored them to default.
- Ran HP Performance Advisor, everything was okay except for CPU1 Fan (Critical). I forgot to take a screenshot.
