Hi I am a new user.
I have a HP All in One Desktop which I purchased from HP with a genuine version on Windows 10. Recently, a watermark type Alert appeared on my screen " Activate Windows. Go to Settings to activate Windows. " I did this but I was then told Activation was not possible because I did not have a Product Key and to insert this Key. I do not know what or where this Product Key is. I do not have the original box which the PC came in, there is no Product key number adhered to the exterior of the P.C
The instructions are now for me to contact the Retailer(which is HP) to obtain the Product Key and to send it to me to activate my Windows10.
Are you please able to forward the Product Key to me please as you would have a record of the key.
Thank You
Denis Liuzzi

Hi:
The product specs for your PC indicate that it came with Windows 8.1 from HP.
HP Pavilion 23-p014a All-in-One Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Support
The Windows product key is encrypted in your PC's BIOS.
Download and install the free Showkey Plus app from the Micrsoft Store and it will show you the Windows 8.1 OEM product key and the version of W10 the key is good for.
There should also be an 'Installed key' line in the report.
If the installed key is different from the OEM key, change the installed key to the OEM key in the PC settings menu and you should be able to activate W10 that way.
In order for the above method to work, your PC needed to have W10 installed and activated prior to October of 2023.
That is when Microsoft closed the loophole that allowed for free upgrades to W10 beyond the July 2016 expiration date for the free upgrade.
