Thanks for sharing!

I've bought a

DeLOCK Dual poort USB 3.0 PCIe adapter controller

But where on the motherboard can you connect cable?
Can you share photo's of the cable (and) the way you connected it on your board?

I already did some research myself.
So, let me get this straight.

You think this should work?

Please let me know, so I can get out of this 'motherboard-nightmare' 😉

You need to download copy of the service manual for this model from this link

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04224518

In page 49 it shows the sata cable picture number 3, and in page 176 it shows the system board connections, if your system is SFF.

You need to connect one free end from this SATA power cable to Molex connector splitter, the white one with 4 PIN, this to connect to the USB card to power it, it is also helpful if you check with the card manufacturer for compatibility and driver requirement.

Have you tried physically connect the USB 3 card to the Motherboard? which slot?

Thanks for the explaination.

It inspired me to do things a little different.

What im going to do is buy a PCIe card with a SATA connection instead of a MOLEX one. That way, i dont have to split anything.

Then, im gonna connect it to the free slot on the power cable illustrated in the manual as number 3 like you said.

This cable allready provides my SSD and DVD writer of power but has 1 female connection left.

I could connect the PCIe card via a SATA extention cable.

Here you can see the card and extention cable i mentioned.

This should do the trick right?

The connection on the motherboard fits by the way.
