Envy 700-147c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the HP Envy 700-147c for about 4 years. It came with Windows 8 and then I upgraded it to windows 10. The OS and operating system are 64 bit. I has 1 TB hard drive. I installed a 3TB additional hard drive. The system doesn't identified (recognized) the second drive.  Someone said I should update BIOS but I don't know if that will fix the problem. Besides I don't know how to update bios. My current BIOS Version/Date AMI 80.52, 11/11/2014. Any suggestions solutions are appreciated.

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Is this 3 TB HDD new or used?

A new HDD has to be initialized in Disk Management before Windows Explorer can see the new HDD.

Type Disk Management in search.

Select create and format hard disk partitions.

Look for an offline disk in the lower section of Disk Management.

Right click on the offline disk. Bring the disk online.

Right click again.

Select create a new simple volume.

Regards
