Hi @Eggers48,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting an error when trying to login to your account.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • Were you having any issues logging in before this issue?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

The main reason for the error you are getting is corrupted user profile, when the user profile gets corrupted, your password and its components will not work properly.

For now, follow the below steps to resolve this issue.

Step 1: Enable built-in administrator account.

  1. Open the elevated command prompt by entering Safe mode with Command prompt. To go to safe mode, use the power button on the sign-in screen and press Shift + Restart. This will take you to the recovery boot menu. Click Troubleshoot> Advanced options> Startup settings. You then see a list where you can choose Safe Mode with Command prompt.
  2. net user administrator /activeType the following command: :yes and press Enter.
  3. built-in administrator user Login to the profile and create a new user profile with administrator privileges. (Make sure you transfer all the data to the new profile created)
  4. Delete the corrupted user account from the built-in administrator.
  5. Then lock your screen by pressing Windows key + L, and sign-in at the Administrator account.
  6. net user administrator /:no in the Command prompt (Admin).active check if the issue persists and you can disable built-in administrator account by typing the command:

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care.
