I have set Task Scheduler in Windows 10 to shut down my desktop at 10pm every night; I know I have programmed it right because I have checked and double checked the settings.  However shutdown is not happening.  In the morning when I wake up my computer all of the pages I had last used the night before pop up, to include my active passwords!!  I have run shutdown in cmd prompt and the computer will immediately go into shutdown mode.  Why won't task scheduler shut it down?  Is there some HP software that needs configured I'm not aware of?  I am using Firefox.

I've not done this ... but perhaps this thread will provide some useful ideas:

Thanks for the link but I've tried all that...nothing works.  Followed all the directions but in the morning when I go to my PC it wakes up exactly where I left off the night before.
