@MUNGWANA, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP EliteBook 2560p.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If your HP EliteBook 2560p is experiencing battery charging issues, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to diagnose and resolve the problem:

  1. Check the Power Adapter:

    • Ensure the power adapter is connected properly and is plugged into a working power outlet.
    • Inspect the power adapter and cable for any damages or fraying.
    • Try using a different power adapter that is compatible with your laptop to rule out an adapter issue.
  2. Check the Battery Status:

    • Remove the battery and reinsert it after a few moments to ensure it is seated properly.
    • If possible, try using another compatible battery to see if the issue lies with the current battery.
  3. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Shut down the laptop, remove the battery and AC adapter, and then press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
    • Reconnect the AC adapter and battery, then turn on the laptop to see if it charges properly.
  4. Update BIOS and Drivers:

    • Outdated BIOS or drivers can sometimes cause charging issues.
  5. Check Battery Health:

    • Use HP Support Assistant or Windows built-in tools to check the health of your battery. If the battery is old or failing, it may need to be replaced.
  6. Inspect Battery and Adapter in BIOS:

    • Enter the BIOS setup and navigate to the Power or Diagnostics tab to check the status of the battery and adapter.
  7. Check Power Settings:

    • Ensure the power settings are configured correctly in Windows. Go to Control Panel > Power Options to review and adjust settings as necessary.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
