Hello,

I assembled a computer (Victus TG02-0000a, Erica 8 Mainboard) with a Ryzen 5 3500X and a GTX 1660 Super. Sadly, it does not post into BIOS, the screen just stays black (even after 10+ min). Is BIOS Flashback with a USB Stick possible? I have no hard drive installed, already tried a "bare bones boot" with one working RAM stick, reset the CMOS battery several times for several minutes. What other possibilities are there?

Thank you for your help

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I don't know if your PC has a BIOS problem requiring a BIOS update or BIOS flashback. HP, generally, do not add additional CPU support in future BIOS updates.

The Erica8 MB seems to limit CPU support to only Ryzen 5000 series "G" processors.

I'm thinking your PC's BIOS does not like the 3500X. I would not know if a BIOS update would solve your problem.

Do you have any of the HP approved CPUs listed at the Erica8 MB site you could install in the MB to get the PC to POST?

There are ways to flash the BIOS (outside of the operating system) using a HP USB BIOS recovery drive but I think you're going to need a compatible CPU to do this.

And, if the PC POSTs using a compatible CPU then you you could try a BIOS update to see if the MB will see the 3500X. I don't think the MB will see the 3500X after a BIOS update.

Thank you for the quick response. I looked into the supported processors (I tried a Ryzen 5 2400G before, didn't work), found a lot but nothing concise, looked at the B550A chipset and thought that everything supported by that might work. BIOS Flashback would have been my last resort, so this answer does give me some hope. I will look into getting a Ryzen 5000 series G, thank you very much

My pleasure.

Some HP MBs only work with factory validated CPUs.

It's too bad since the MB: CPU socket and chipset would support the 2400G and the 3500X.

But additional CPU support would only happen if HP adds BIOS support for other processors.
