Product: Pavilion p6232p
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm having issues Upgrading from windows 10 1709 to 1803.  But, I thought I would check on the BIOS also while I'm at it.  The BIOS on the machine is from "5.43, 9-10-2009", the one at the official site is labled  "5.43 1.7 MB Aug 6, 2010"?  I see this all the time, what does this mean?  Is this the same BIOS or not?  It's kind of a big deal because Windows 10 is on the machine now so cannot Upate the BIOS easily.  So don't want to bother if it is already up to date.

Hi Pcpunk,

 

It is great you were able to get to Windows 10, version 1709.

 

A 2010 BIOS update is not going to help you with upgrading to Windows 10 1803.

 

Windows 10 1709 may be the best you can do.

 

You could try doing the W10 1803 update with only a keyboard and mouse connected to your PC.

 

It is possible you may have a hardware driver conflict or you have a baked in hardware problem with the 56K WinModem, or ethernet which cannot be fixed. Or your current Anti-Virus program is causing a problem.

 

It could be anything.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, the most important question is the BIOS Version.  Because of the date, as usual it is misleading if it is correct or not.  Can someone please clarify what if anything the dates mean.  Seems maybe there is a difference between the way the computer lables the BIOS Date and the way HP Labels it?

Hi Pcpunk,

 

The BIO version on your PC and the HP BIOS update version is immaterial in your situation.

 

A 2010 BIOS update is not going to fix your 2018 Windows 10 update problems.

 

Lastly, it is not recommended to attempt installing a Windows 7 BIOS update within Windows 10.

Yes, but that is the question, and nothing else.  Upgrading is immaterial, I only included it to fully explain.
