Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all, I have a quick question. For the last few weeks, every time I start my PC, it goes to the BIOS. I just click the default option, and then it starts as normal. How to fix this ? thanks

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Many PCs may load the BIOS screen or provide a system disk not detected error screen if the OS drive is in trouble or the OS is corrupt.

You have stated you click the default option at the BIOS screen.. Then Windows loads.

What is the default option?

Older HP UEFI BIOS exit options are found by selecting File>Save and Exit.

Newer HP UEFI BIOS exit options are in the Exit menu.

I'm fuzzy on what screen you are seeing when you start your PC.

Check your PC's hardware using HP Diagnostics as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run extensive system and component tests to confirm: a drive problem, a memory problem, or other component problem.

Let the Forum know how it goes.

Hi Bill, The default option is f-5 and here's the image of what I'm seeing , tried some of the things you suggested, but I also noticed I accidentally came to the wrong forum, confusing my HP PC with this other one ASUS but I'm sure the cure must be the same  IMG_2038.JPG

Okay. I build PCs and have used Asus MBs in various builds.

I see you have a Z270 MB. The MB dates back to 2017. This MB may be hitting EOL.

And the primary boot SSD is present (Samsung 850).

Yes, "F5" would set the BIOS to defaults and then you save and exit.

Getting the main BIOS screen at startup or seeing a non system disk error at startup could happen if no boot drive is detected. But the BIOS image in your post clearly lists the main boot drive.

Have you ever replaced the CR2032 MB battery? This should reset CMOS. But it looks like the BIOS date and time is correct. The BIOS date and time would normally have a problem if the CR2032 MB battery needs replacing.

Are you using the latest Asus BIOS version for this MB?

Try checking the Samsung SSD using Crystal Disk Mark. Also check drive health with Crystal Disk Info.

Both Apps are available Here.

Yes, the Asus BIOS  installed in your MB is very old.

Check your Mobo's support site for a newer BIOS.

Try a new CR2032 MB battery.

Check the 850 Evo's status using Crystal Dew Info. And you can benchmark the 850 using Crystal Dew Mark.
