HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-4000i (6V9A5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have tried several times to update this BIOS. First Windows tried, next HP support Assistant, then HP support online. All resulted in a "Firmware update Failure." My motherboard is 8B3B, 13th Gen intel i7. My computer is an HP Envy TE01-4254, Product # 7H0U6AA#ABA. The last update downloaded and tried to install SP158813. The previous "solution" did not look like it was applicable to my system. Has anyone with a similar setup to mine been successful with this BIOS update?

  My current BIOS is F.40-03/06/2025.

Hi @ajh1000

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details—I completely understand how frustrating it is to repeatedly encounter a “Firmware update failure”, especially after trying multiple supported methods (Windows Update, HP Support Assistant, and manual download). You’ve already done quite a bit of effort on this, which is appreciated.

From what you’ve described:

  • HP ENVY TE01-4254 (8B3B motherboard, 13th Gen i7)
  • Current BIOS: F.40 (03/06/2025)
  • Update attempted: SP158813
  • Consistent failure across all update paths

This definitely helps narrow things down.

To better understand what might be causing the failure and ensure we guide you appropriately, could you help confirm a few things:

  • When the BIOS update fails, do you see any specific error code or message beyond “Firmware update failure”?
  • Does the system attempt to reboot and start the BIOS flashing process, or does it fail within Windows before reboot?
  • Have there been any recent hardware changes (RAM, storage, GPU, etc.) or BIOS setting modifications?
  • Are you running the system with any external devices connected (USB drives, docks, etc.) during the update attempt?

Also, it’s good to note that not every BIOS package applies to every configuration—even within the same motherboard family—so we’ll double-check alignment with your exact product ID (7H0U6AA#ABA) once we review these details.

Once I have that information, I’ll help you move forward with the most appropriate approach.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
