The problem started when a by the HP Support Assistent suggested BIOS update failed, and now the PC is a brick.


The computer doesn't do anything when using the USB recovery drive, i have tried several different USB drives, and different versions of the BIOS recovery.

The computer beeps, and I get a blue screen says that the BIOS i corrupt, and the update will begin when restarted, but then nothing happen. The screen i Black and the USB pen gets hot, but no installation screen comes up.

I have tried app. 40 times, in different USB ports, with different USB drive etc. different keyboards, screen etc.

The update that failed and caused the problem was the :
HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 843B)
sp143841, version F.49

Hi

 

It sounds like you have received a faulty BIOS update from HP. The 690 series PCs seem to have been hit the hardest. 25L PCs, AIO PCs, and some Business Workstations have also received a faulty BIOS update from HP or from Windows Update.

 

Some PCs are unstable while other PCs cannot POST. Your PC seems to be in this latter category.

 

You have no video and cannot use USB I/O. Check this Link for a different PC having a similar problem.

 

This Link shows the faulty BIOS update. Scroll down, click on Revision History. Scroll down again. You will see prior BIOS versions available for download. A tech would need a prior BIOS version if reprograming the BIOS is possible. You may have to replace the MB.
