Backlit Keyboard is not fully displaying lighting for each key. For example some keys such as sound mute key (f5) and mic mute key (f8) on Hp Spectre x360 are not lighting up, while the rest of the keyboard keys operate normally. I have tried using AI and driver updates but HP Support Assistant says I am up to date. My software is updated to Win 11 and latest updates.

Hi @avracadavra ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the backlit keyboard on your HP Spectre x360 is not fully displaying lighting for each key, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check Keyboard Lighting Settings:
- Open HP Support Assistant: Go to the HP Support Assistant and navigate to the "Troubleshooting and Fixes" section. Look for options related to keyboard settings.
- Keyboard Backlight Settings: Some HP laptops have settings for the backlight brightness. Check if there is an option to adjust the backlight intensity or color.
2. Update BIOS and Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Visit HP’s Support Website: Go to the HP Support website and search for your laptop model.
- Download the Latest BIOS Update: Check if there is a BIOS update available for your model. Download and install it if there is a newer version than what you currently have.
3. Perform a Hard Reset:
- Power Off Your Laptop: Shut down the laptop completely.
- Disconnect All External Devices: Unplug any peripherals and the power adapter.
- Press and Hold the Power Button: Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to reset hardware components.
- Reconnect and Power On: Plug in the power adapter and start the laptop to see if the issue is resolved.
4. Reinstall or Update Keyboard Driver:
- Device Manager: Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager").
- Locate Keyboard Driver: Find and expand the "Keyboards" section.
- Update or Reinstall Driver: Right-click your keyboard device and select "Update driver" or "Uninstall device" (if you uninstall, restart your laptop to reinstall the driver automatically).

Hello,
I have done resetting, updating bios, and checking for any drivers I need to reinstall, however the issue persists. the backlit keyboard does not flash red for the fkeys like it originally did in the past. Also, my backlit keyboard doesn't stay lit when I press on it, it flashes and then goes dark again after a few seconds even though I have it on the permanent lighting mode. Please help!
