HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 (1A3X9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I reinstalled windows 11 using a usb stick, it auto downloaded the latest optional firmware update for my laptop but when restarting the pc it gives the error "Error updating bios, cannot find image or image" something like that, I can't find that optional update anymore in windows update and in the devices information is already updated but with a yellow triangle in it, how do I download the 15.71.0.0 firmware version for my pc? I can create a usb installer for the BIOS.

Hi @ElvisTek,

Thank you for the response.

For your HP Laptop 15‑dw3505la (767U1LA), the BIOS/firmware update you mentioned (15.71.0.0) is not something that can be downloaded from Windows Update once it fails. Firmware updates for HP systems are only distributed and supported through the HP Support site or directly via the HP Support Assistant application.

Since you’re seeing a yellow triangle in Device Manager and the BIOS update failed, the safest next step is:

Visit the official HP Support page: HP Support

Enter your product number or model.

Go to the Drivers & Downloads section.

Under BIOS, download the latest available version for your system.

Use the HP‑provided installer to create a recovery USB if needed.

If the BIOS update continues to fail or the correct version isn’t listed, please contact your nearest HP Authorized Service Center. They can re‑flash the BIOS using HP’s internal tools and ensure the firmware is properly restored.

Let me know how it goes

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Thanks, I hope this worked, did that, downloaded the bios but was a previous version, created a usb bios installer with the downloaded file and after restarting the pc, the bios updated, now the yellow triangle is gone but the bios says its up to 15.71 for some reason and not the previous version downloaded from the drivers page, thanks for the help. I hope this worked.
