Hi,
I'm working for an IT service.
headquarter send me a used laptop (an elitebook 845 G9) for a new user.
If the laptop is working, system information are not right.
product name, sn, sku are not the right ones.
Bios is U82 (as 845G9, it looks be right), but product name is "Zbook Fury 16 G10", SKU is 98J47ET#ABF (Zbook Fury 16 G10 ), borndate is march 2024 insteadof august 2023 ...
I called HP Support.
A technician come 2 days later to solve issue ... but can't.
next step look to be a motherboard change ....
i think this is waste of time and money for something easyly fixable.
i googled to find a better solution. it looks there i s an official tool called "HP system BOARD CONFIGURATION"
The HP technician was not using any tools, he was trying to update data from Bios itself (from "System IDs" menu).
Aren't all techncians aware of the existing tool ?
Is it a way to me to download the tools and fix data with correct one as found on partsurfer.hp.com, to avoid an unnecessary motherboard change ?
regards

Our usual HP technician came.
He knows the "HP system BOARD CONFIGURATION" tool.
So he tried to change the information...
but the tools don't allow anything to change.
maybe the first technician was knowing that this app won't allow any re-tag.
The “HP system BOARD CONFIGURATION” tool is only intended for systems without configuration.
No way to modify an existing configuration.
The motherboard is being changed by a new one 😕
