Hello — I need help: my system is currently on BIOS F.39 and every attempt to update to F.40 fails. The update begins but the PC freezes before the update completes and before the system can reboot, requiring a manual power-off. I’ve tried repeating the update multiple times with the same result. My system specs are below. Is this a known issue with F.40.

BIOS details:
Current BIOS: F.39
Target BIOS: F.40
System Specs:Core Platform
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G — 6 cores / 12 threads.
- GPU: HP NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB GDDR6
- Memory: 32 GB DDR4 — 3200 MHz.
- OS: Windows 11 Pro x64.
*also have the 500 watt psu installed, upgraded from 400 watt

I hear that your system is freezing after updating the F.40 BIOS version.
Kindly refer to the steps below and check:
Stay on F.39: Since your system is stable on F.39, it’s safer to remain there until HP releases F.41 or a patched revision. support.hp.com
Check HP Support Assistant: Monitor HP Support Assistant or the HP BIOS download page for newer revisions.
Rollback if needed: If F.40 partially installs but causes instability, use HP’s BIOS rollback option in the firmware menu to return to F.39.
Reinstall chipset drivers: If you ever succeed in flashing F.40, reinstall the latest AMD chipset drivers immediately to restore proper thermal/power management.
