Pavilion 590-p0066
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The Help & Support app showed there was a BIOS update available for my Pavilion 590-p0066 (with 843B motherboard).  My current BIOS is version F.12, and hp.com support site shows there is a newer F.20 rev A version available.  I first tried the update via the HP Help & Support App.  The update download, said it was ready and said a restart was required.  After the restart, I got the message "update failed."   I attempted update again and got said "failed" message.  One of the options during update process was to add update files to a USB stick and I next did this.  I followed instructions to reboot computer with USB stick in USB slot but nothing happened (directions said it would be handled automatically with some restarts).  Finally, I went to HP support website and download the BIOS update for 843B motherboard and again tried to update but got same failure message.

Any suggestions?  Computer is working fine, but I would like to get the security and performance benefits from latest BIOS.

Thanks,

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

There is a reason why the seemingly correct BIOS update for the Lincs MB SSID:843B is failing.

The posted HP BIOS update may be corrupted.

I would sit tight for a while. A bad BIOS update could disable your PC requiring HP factory service.

Regards
