Bios update keeps freezing

Anytime i go to update my Bios with the proper update (8876) it keeps freezing out my computer immediately and will not update? is this a common issue with an older bios and windows 11? Literally tried to the best of my ability to figure it out, now thinking update just is not compatible maybe???

If the BIOS update is freezing the system immediately after you launch it, that is not something we would normally expect, even on a system running Windows 11. In most cases, BIOS updates are designed to work regardless of whether the current BIOS is a few revisions behind.
 

I'd like to gather a bit more information first:

• What is the exact HP model or product number (P/N) of the PC?
• What BIOS version is currently installed?
• Which BIOS version are you attempting to install?
• Does the system freeze while Windows is running the BIOS update utility, or does it freeze after the system reboots to begin the BIOS flash process?
   

In the meantime, I'd recommend trying the following:

1. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Before attempting another BIOS update, let's make sure the hardware is healthy.

1. Restart the PC and tap F2 repeatedly.
2. Open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
3. Run the Memory Test.
4. Run the Storage Test.
5. Let me know if either test reports a Failure ID.
    

2. Restore BIOS Defaults

1. Restart the PC and tap F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
2. Press F9 to load BIOS defaults.
3. Save and exit with F10.
    

3. Disconnect External Devices

Before running the BIOS update again:

• Disconnect USB drives, external storage devices, docks, printers, and other peripherals.
• Leave only the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and power connected.
   

4. Try Updating from BIOS Instead of Windows
