A recent BIOS update caused my system to only recognize half of the installed RAM (16gb) and also my Bluetooth does not work anymore.  I have tried to downgrade the BIOS, but it keeps on updating to version F.33.  I need a way to downgrade to the F.30 version to hopefully fix my system.  Thanks!

Hi @NemesisIV,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear your frustration when a BIOS update disrupts core functions like RAM recognition and Bluetooth; it feels like your PC has lost its rhythm. Let’s get you back to a stable state with clear, safe steps and the right HP resources.

Why This Happens

The F.33 BIOS update likely introduced changes to memory mapping and Bluetooth firmware that your system isn’t handling well. Downgrading to F.30 can restore compatibility, but HP often locks rollback by default for security reasons.

Step-by-Step Guide to Downgrade BIOS on HP Pavilion TP01-3000i

1. Download the Previous BIOS (F.30)

2. Prepare a BIOS Recovery USB

  • Use a FAT32-formatted USB drive.
  • Copy the downloaded BIOS file to the root directory of the USB.

3. Disable BIOS Protection

  • Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly → choose F10 for BIOS Setup.
  • Under Security, disable Secure Boot and any BIOS Update Protection options.

4. Perform BIOS Recovery

  • Power off your PC.
  • Insert the USB drive.
  • Hold Windows + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Keep holding Windows + B until you see the BIOS Recovery screen.
  • Select the F.30 file and follow the on-screen instructions.
(This process may take several minutes, don’t interrupt it!)

5. Prevent Auto-Update Back to F.33

  • After rollback, open HP Support AssistantSettings → disable BIOS updates.
  • In Windows Update, pause updates temporarily to avoid firmware push.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
