It has nothing to do with the BIOS update.

Did you verify that the video card supports the BIOS type in your desktop PC?

If you bought a card that only supports UEFI it will not operate when installed in a motherboard that supports only legacy BIOS.

the motherboard in your desktop supports UEFI, however, you may need to disable secure boot in order for the video card to work, that is if your video card supports UEFI.

You have given only generic information while expecting exact information ti to be given to you.

How do you expect that to work out?

Provide the brand and exact model of the video card you installed. Did you verify that a PSU upgrade was also not needed?

Was there a requirement to connect one or two PCIe power connectors from the PSU?

Do not play around with BIOS updates when trying to upgrade the video card.  Upgrading the BIOS just on a whim can be pretty dangerous to your PC.

Find out all of the other information I asked about first.

OK.

So you used the information I provided to you bought a different video card, installed it and it worked, then you marked your post as the solution.   Not so nice.
