I’m looking to play a new game on my pc but the game is saying I need a bios update. There are no new bios updates. The game requires secure boot to be on which it is. Is there any way to get an updated bios for my motherboard?

Hi @Tonyang,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how disappointing it feels when you're excited to dive into a new game, only to be blocked by a BIOS requirement, especially when Secure Boot is already enabled and no new BIOS updates seem available. Let’s explore your options.

Why the Game Might Be Asking for a BIOS Update

Some modern games check for:

  • UEFI Secure Boot (which you’ve confirmed is enabled )
  • TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module)
  • Specific BIOS features or firmware versions that support newer security or virtualization standards

If your BIOS version is older or missing certain flags, even if Secure Boot is on, the game might still reject it.

What You Can Do Next

1. Use HP Support Assistant

HP recommends using their built-in tool to check for BIOS updates:

  • Open HP Support Assistant on your PC.
  • Go to My Devices > Updates.
  • If a BIOS update is available, it will appear here.

🔗 Check for a BIOS update using HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

2. Manually Check HP’s BIOS Update Page

You can manually search for your PC’s BIOS updates:

  • Visit Official HP® Support
  • Enter your exact model number (e.g., HP OMEN 16-am000, HP Victus 15-fa0070TX, etc.)
  • Look under the BIOS section for any updates.

3. Gather System Info for Support

If no update is listed, you can still contact HP Support with:

  • Product name and number
  • Motherboard ID (ROM Family SSID)
  • Current BIOS version
  • Processor name

To get this info:

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + S to open HP System Information.

🔗 HP Consumer Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
