Greetings and good morning! I have a few issues to report. Firstly, I recently downloaded a newer driver for my HP Compaq 6300 pro SFF, but it doesn't seem to have updated even with the HPQ file. I tried using the DOS file instead, but it keeps displaying "incompatible ROM image." Secondly, I want to use the DMI tool to change my HP serial numbers, but my driver only contains the HPQ and DOS files. How can I accomplish this?

Hi:

If you want to update the BIOS to the latest version (00.03.08), it is a two-step process.

You have to first update the BIOS to v.02.99, and then update it to 00.03.08

Since your PC is not supported by HP for W10, I recommend that you update the BIOS using the F10 BIOS setup flash method.

Format a USB flash drive with the FAT 32 file system.

That is very important to format the flash drive with the right file system.

Download and save, but do not run (sp73099).  That is the v02.99 file.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73001-73500/sp73099.exe

Use this free tool to unzip the HP BIOS download (sp73099)

The 1st file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the sp73099 BIOS update file you downloaded and saved.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  And let it extract the file into its folder name.

Once that is done, open the folder 7-Zip created, and copy only the file contents of the DOS flash folder to your FAT32- formatted USB flash drive.

Before you update the BIOS, it is normally a good practice to disconnect everything hooked up to the PC except the keyboard, mouse, monitor and the USB flash drive with the DOS BIOS flash files on it.

So, shut down the PC and remove anything connected to the PC except the above items.

Once you have done that...

Turn on the PC, tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F10 Setup menu and press the enter key.

Select the File menu>Flash System ROM command.

Select the USB flash drive and the PC should now see the files on the flash drive.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS.

Then follow the same procedure to update the BIOS from 02.99 to 03.08.

Here's the link to v.03.08:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp95501-96000/sp95971.exe

You shouldn't need a DMI tool to change the serial number of your PC.

After entering BIOS Setup by pressing the F10 key, press Ctrl+A to open additional fields in Security>System IDs menu.

Enter your PC's serial number in Asset Tag Number and Chassis Serial Number fields.

Save changes there and again when you exit the BIOS.

I managed to alter every ID, but I can't change the uuid ID. How can I modify the UUID?

HP Recommended

You can't change that ID without the HP DMI tool and I wouldn't be able to help you with that.

You will probably have to take the PC to an authorized HP repair center to have that done.
