Example: Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0073w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this in December. This is the 2nd time this has happened.

I get a blue screen telling me "kmode" windows can't load. NOTHING in the troubleshooting area works. No system restore, can't boot into safe mode, etc., etc. - the only thing is to reload windows, but I can't do it from a disk - has to be a USB.

I'm getting a little tired or redoing all my programs and losing the files I have accumulated - especially if nothing is fixed and I'm going to have to do it again in two months. This is NOT the way a NEW machine is supposed to behave! HP is NO help (I don't know when they are going to figure out that FAQs are not a substitute for actual HELP - or if they give a **bleep**)

Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to FIX it?

Standard equip: Win10 home, GEFORCE GTX1660T1, i5, 8GB DDR4, 256gb Solid State HD

Thanks, Tim

@medfordtim, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Have you run a hardware test from the UEFI screen to check the functionality of the hardware components? By this, we will get to know if this is a software or a hardware issue.

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. Perform System Test > Extensive test. Share the result on your next post.

Also, perform the steps mentioned in this document - Error Messages Display on a Blue Screen

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
