Computer showing: Blue screen with boot device not found notification.

I have run the f2 diagnostics on all hard drives and result was a  black screen with notification SMART CHECK : FAILED

i also tried the reset, i.e. turning of the computer, unplugging, then the 10 second power button push, then plug in and switch on. To no avail.

is my only option a service call. Desktop out of warranty.

Hi @Richard-2023

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Please provide a specific HP Product Number to determine operating system recovery options.

It looks like the system disk has failed.

You may have to replace this drive and do a HP Cloud Recovery or a clean Windows installation on a replacement HDD or SSD.

You might be able to recover data on the existing drive by connecting this drive to a different PC as a data drive.

Or you could have a local PC Tech tackle this problem. No sense contacting HP for service since your PC is out of warranty.

Hi @Richard-2023

Thanks for providing the product number.

I only see a BIOS update for your MB at this HP Site. And Computer Surgeons doesn't seem to offer a recovery kit for your PC.

So it looks like you will have to use Microsoft: W10 installation media or W11 installation media to install an operating system on a new HDD. I don't know what version of Windows you have now.

Again, you might be able to recover data on the bad drive by connecting this drive to a different PC as a data drive.

Check this HP Site for Windows Cloud Recovery options. Maybe your PC qualifies?

Regards
