Hi @Wildfowler,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact model of your HP computer.
  • Did this issue appear after a Windows update, new installation, or sudden shutdown?
  • Do you have access to another PC or USB drive that we could use to create recovery media if needed?

 Suggested Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Perform a Hard Reset
    • Power off your computer completely.
    • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
    • Hold down the power button for about 15 seconds, then restart.
  2. Access Recovery Options
    • Restart your PC and press F11 repeatedly to open HP Recovery Manager.
    • If available, try System Restore to roll back to a previous working state.
  3. Use Windows Recovery Media
    • The error code 0xC0000098 often means the boot configuration data (BCD) is missing or corrupted.
    • If you have a Windows 11 installation USB, boot from it → select Repair your computer → Troubleshoot → Startup Repair.
  4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
  • Restart and press Esc repeatedly.
  • From the Startup Menu, press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run a quick test to check for hardware issues.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, we may need to rebuild the boot configuration using recovery tools (before opting this option ensure data back up is done

I hope this helps.

Hi @Wildfowler,

Thanks for your response.

Since the issue occurs immediately when you try to power on the HP 24-DF0014NA and you don’t have access to another PC, let’s focus on what can be done directly on this system:

Please try the following steps carefully:

1.Access Windows Recovery (F11)

Turn the PC completely off.

Turn it back on and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly until you see “Please wait” or Recovery options.

If Recovery opens, select Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Repair and allow it to complete.

2.System Restore (if available)

From Advanced options, select System Restore.

Choose a restore point dated before the issue started and follow the on-screen instructions.

This will not affect personal files.

3.Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Power off the PC.

Turn it on and repeatedly press Esc, then press F2.

Run the Quick Test first. If it passes, run the Extensive Test.

This helps confirm whether the issue is software-related rather than a hardware failure.
