HP ENVY h8-1500 Desktop PC series
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Originally had HP blue tooth keyboard and mouse, so know i had bluetooth, changed to plug in keyboard and mouse, years ago and never used bluetooth since. originally had windows 8 and updated to windows 8.1.

Anyway the issue is, i received a blooth speaker and went to connect it and can not find  bluetooth anywhere.

Have been through services.msc (Yep see bluetooth there and its running) and device manager and all the other guides there is and updated windows to current, also Intel, and the few updates on HP.

Still can not find bluetooth.

Any help would be great.

Hi:

Your HP BT KB and mouse run off a separate USB bluetooth adapter which only is good for the KB and mouse.

The easiest thing to do to add BT networking to your PC, would be to purchase an external USB BT adapter.

I use this one for example...

https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTD-400-Bluetooth-4-0-USB/dp/B007Q45EF4

Windows has bluetooth services included with the operating system.

You are missing the Bluetooth hardware that the services would support.

From: HP ENVY h8-1540t Product Specifications and Configurable Options

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03650832

Must select one of the following options:
  • Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n featuring Single-band (2.4Ghz) 1x1
  • Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n featuring Single-band (2.4Ghz) 1X1 technology
  • Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n featuring Dual-band (2.4Ghz and 5GHz) 2x2 MIMO technology

So, if you have the '1540t' model, it may have Bluebooth support.

Have you tried running the "HP Support Assistant", to find/download/install the latest device-drivers?

From: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-h8-1500-desktop-pc-series/5330773...

there is a device-driver for 64-bit Windows 8.1 for "Broadcom Bluetooth".
