Whilst using my computer a BIOS message came up stating the computer has to restart.
Now the computer will not start. Only goes to Boot Device Not Found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk, Hard Disk (3F0), F2-System Diagnostics, for more information, please visit: http://www.hp.com./go/3Foharddiskerror
Pressing F2 does nothing.
I restarted, pressing ESC to the Startup Menu, select F10 BIOS Setup. Under Boot Options there is no legacy or default boot option. I change the UEFI Boot Order to start with the USB first, downloaded a bunch of BIOS firmware files, (efi) none seem to work. when I run the HpBiosMgmt via Boot from EFI File the following messages come up "The System BIOS update failed." & "Unable to open BIOS Image file."
I have trying the following updates, with the same results.
sp149728
sp149564
sp149563
sp149471
sp148896
sp147105
sp139758
sp112026
sp105879
sp141980
BIOS binary - 2019 (will not extract properly) [The following could not be opened or is not a valid ZIP file]
BIOS binary - 2021 (will not extract properly) [The following could not be opened or is not a valid ZIP file]
I can't download a HP Cloud Recovery Tool because my spare computer has a SSD 50GB which only has 16GB available space, and there is no option to save the files to another drive (i.e. and external hardrive...).
The BIOS menu on my computer do not match the functions shown on HP Support sites.
Fairly disappointed in HP, considering it was a hardly used PC, and failed already...
Anyway, if anyone know how to reset, or reinstall a BIOS and can help, would be much appreciated.
Thanks
JV

The message usually means the hard drive has failed. If that is what happened, then all of the other things mentioned will not work because all of the files listed for BIOS updates usually run under Windows.
Assuming you can get to the Startup menu again, this time run the F2-System Diagnostics to see if the hard drive can be found and tested. Report back with the findings.
If the hard drive cannot be tested then it will need to be replaced and Windows reinstalled. I can help you with all of that once the results are posted.

So the diagnostics reported that it found the hard drive and it said it passed? BTW: if that model has an Optane installed in the M.2 slot, it might be reporting two drives - 3F0 and 3F1. In which case the 3F0 is the Optane.
If that is the case, then make sure there are no devices plugged in except the keyboard and mouse and there is no media cards in the card reader, or DVD/CD's in the DVD drive, if one is present.

I created a Window 10 installation media flash card (usb), on another computer.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10%20
Which contains a boot64.efi, and ran the reinstallation of Windows 10.
Got the PC up and running again (complete reset).
Downloaded HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows v2.4.0.0, https://support.hp.com/au-en/help/hp-pc-hardware-diagnostics#otherDiagContent
BIOS found to need upgrade, ran upgrade.
So far so good.
Thank anyway, cheers.
