Hello,
I tried to boot Ubuntu Linux from DVD after I changed UEFI/BIOS-settings to Legacy enabled and Secure Boot disabled and Lagacy boot.
It doesn't work like also Knoppix, Windows Life Rescue 10.
I tried it with Rufus prepared USB-Sticks and burned DVDs.
Are there any hints for me?
Regards - thanks - Leo

You're dealing with a PC that has UEFI and Secure Boot -- and that is a whole new, complicated, story for using Linux.
Your best bet is to contact the Ubuntu Support forums with this issue -- as folks there deal with this kind of problem on a regular basis.
HP provides no official Linux support, so if you end up needing software or drivers, you will not get anything from HP.

When you try something, tell us what you tried, and tell us more than "it does not work".
Technical details are welcome, if you want a technical solution.
When you power-on the computer, can you hear the media in the DVD device spinning?
Any blinking-light on the front-panel of the DVD, to indicate input/output activity?

Hello,
ok, I prepared an Ubuntu 20.04.3 Desktop.iso on a DVD. That is an Ubuntu Live System to boot from DVD without effect to the installed Windows 11 System.
I have read that I need to enable legacy and disable secure boot in UEFI/BIOS. I have done it.
Also I have switched to legacy boot sequence.
Starting that DVD, the Ubuntu start menue appears. When I choose to run Ubuntu Live Desktop an error occured:
"No AHCI controller found"
I have tried to boot different Windows and Linux Live Sytems from DVD, but it doesn't work like on all other computer systems.
There is something special with HP Z240 that forces this behavior.
Can someone help me?
Thanks - Regards - Leo

To me, it is surprising that the current release of UBUNTU would require such system changes ("enable legacy" and "disable secure boot"). I would have expected that the authors of UBUNTU would have upgraded their software to be compatible with "modern" computers that have "secure boot" enabled, by default.
So, I suggest that you "undo" those changes, and try again to boot UBUNTU. It is looking for that "AHCI Controller", which suggests that it is compatible with a "modern" computer.
