The Boot Device Not Found Error, or most commonly said Hard Disk 3F0 error is generally occurs when hard disk does not support the system boot process. It mainly happens due to incorrect boot sequence, damaged MBR or boot sector, hard drive connection issue, malware attack, corrupt drive partition or damaged hard drive. Further, to fix Boot Device Not Found error, you can try the below methods:

1. Perform Hard Reset
2. Reset BIOS default settings
3. Reset Hard Drive

Hope it helps!

@Jenny218 -- It was working fine before update.

Perhaps, that update caused all the BIOS settings to some "default" values, and the effect is what you have observed.

In your case, maybe one of those values does NOT list your disk-drive as a "bootable" device.

So, enter BIOS SETUP, and change the value, to include your disk-drive in that category.

Are you seeing any message citing "3F0" ?  If not, then your disk-drive probably is OK.

Updating the "boot-order" might be all that needs to be done.

Thanks for the help. I did follow a suggestion from a YouTube video that had me change to legacy boot. After a couple of trys it did work and I am up and running again. I will never update the BIOS again and I am a little upset that HP had me thinking I needed to. Lesson learned. Thanks again!
