Hi @Mmssenior,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Boot Device Not Found" error with code "3F0" typically indicates that the system is unable to locate a bootable operating system on the hard drive. To resolve this issue, consider the following steps.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your computer and immediately press the Esc or F10 key (depending on your model) to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate to the Boot Options or Boot Order menu and ensure that the hard drive is listed as a boot option. If it is not, select the option to restore default settings (F9) and save changes (F10).

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the computer and disconnect all peripheral devices.
  • Unplug the power cable and, if possible, remove the battery (if applicable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable and any necessary peripherals, then attempt to boot the computer again.

Check the Hard Drive Connection:

  • If comfortable, open the computer's case to ensure that the hard drive is securely connected. Sometimes, connections may become loose due to movement or vibrations.
  • Reseat the hard drive connections if required.

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:

  • If available, run the built-in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to test the hard drive. This can often determine if there are any hardware failures.
  • To access diagnostics, turn on the computer and repeatedly press the Esc key, then select F2 for the diagnostic options.

Boot from a Recovery Disk or USB:

  • If the system still fails to boot, consider using a Windows recovery disk or USB drive. Boot from this media and select options to repair the startup or recover the system.

Check for Signs of Hard Drive Failure:

  • If all troubleshooting steps fail, the hard drive might be failing or already failed. In this case, replacing the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system might be necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
