HP Pavilion F4T58EA#ABU

Hi.

Can someone please help me?

When I turn on my HP Pavilion laptop, its a black screen with the following message:

'Boot device not found,

Please install an operating system on your Hard Disk. Hard Disk (3F0)'

I have done a Quick Hard Disk check and an Extensive Hard Disk check and they both have passed but still this message is showing when I start up.

I checked the support pages on here it tells me to 'Determine if Optane memory is installed and working normally'. To do this I have to look for 'Intel Optane' on the sytem but my laptop does not have Optane memory or Optane memory, is malfunctioning and cannot be detected.

It tells me to contact HP support for further assistance

All my work is on there. It was working fine a few days ago and no-one else uses my laptop but me?

Can anyone please find me a solution

Thank you,

Jamie.

Since you have done the Diagnostics and found the hard drive to be good, since that is usually my first step, you are ahead of the sequence.

There can be more than a few reasons for that error, however.  Since we know the hard drive is still active and good, then the next thing is to check for any media in the DVD/CD drive or a memory card in a card reader.  Also check for anything else connected via USB, expect for the mouse and keyboard.  If all that is good, then maybe something corrupted the boot manager.  For the layman, that is not easy, but if you have the install media, it is simplified by the repair function.

The spec page indicates the PC came with Windows 8, so even if you have upgraded to Windows 10, there is a easy way to have Windows 10 install media.

If you need the install media for Windows 10, you can make it from this Microsoft download

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

With a working PC, scroll down to the "Using the tool to create installation media"
and then follow the directions. You can make either the DVD or USB.

Now with this new media in hand, boot the troublesome PC to this new media.  When it boots and you get past the language and keyboard screen, at the next screen, pick "Repair this PC, instead of the install feature.  Let it do it's process to see if it can correct the problem.  Report back if you need further help, but do not let it install windows.  If you wish to save any data from the drive, stop here and let me know what happened.

Thank you for great reply! Unfortunately I do not have access to another computer, only my mobile phone 😞

Perhaps you can have a friend make the media or use a school or library PC.  You cannot do it on a phone.

The alternative is to take it somewhere, IE repair shop.
