Both Legacy and UEFI are checked, but are grayed out and neither can be unchecked

We need to use Legacy boot for a PXE imaging system.  This Elitedesk 800 G2 will not keep the Legacy Support Enable and Secure Boot Disable setting through a restart.  We have searched and tried many options found on this forum and elsewhere (several days worth of time) to no avail.  

We have gone from BIOS 2.05 to 2.12 to 2.13 with no change in symptoms.  We have even taken out the SSD and put in an imaged HDD and not been able to keep the setting.  In all of this, under the Boot Options, both UEFI and Legacy are checked, but grayed out so neither can be unchecked (options under UEFI can be changed and saved).

We have reset to factory defaults many time, Cleared the Keys, turned off and on many other options, created the admin password, and many other things found on this forum and elsewhere, including of all things, the HP manual.  Somehwere, they have to have a way around this.  What good is a device that is so secure, that the IT department can't even manage it?

I have the older 8200 Elite CMT, and in the BIOS's boot order menu you can use the F5 key to turn UEFI boot order completely off, and then just legacy mode exists for booting.

Maybe you can do the same thing with yours...

The setup guide for your model is vague.  It just states:  UEFI Boot Order...default is enabled.  If that is the case then there must be a setting to disable it.

The 800 G2 does not have the F5 option on that page in the bios.

BIOS Settings For HP800 G2

F10 as machine is starting up to get into BIOS setup

Advanced

               Secure Boot Configuration

               Change to:   Legacy Support Enable

               SAVE

               Yes

               Exit

               Save Changes?  Yes

Now do not try getting back into the bios until after the machine has come up to a 4 digit code which you will type in, then press Enter

Now press F10 to get back into the BIOS setup

Advanced

               Boot Options

                              Check Legacy

                              Uncheck UEFI

                              Under Legacy – move network to first position, hard drive to second position

                              Save

                              Yes

                              Exit

                              Save Changes?  Yes

At this point it will still not boot from the network when it restarts.  Let it boot up to Boot Device Not Found. 

Do CTRL-ALT-DEL

It will try to run a diagnostic, choose English, Exit, Yes

Should now boot to network so it can be registered and imaged.
