HP Victus Gamming  laptop 16-s000

Windows 11

I have had this machine for almost a month and it has been great until today.

It will not connect to wifi and if it does it will not maintain that connection getting old-school AOL vibes

My network is good to go, I know this because I am currently writing this on another device attached to the same network and yes I restarted/booted EVERYTHING.  What am I missing? how can I remedy this?

Thanks in advance

Hi @cullen762,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Victus Gaming laptop running Windows 11 is having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi or maintaining a stable connection, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.

Restart the Laptop:

  • Make sure to restart your HP Victus Gaming laptop to ensure that any temporary glitches are cleared.

Check Wi-Fi Signal:

  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi signal strength is sufficient. If you are too far from the router, move closer to it and see if the connection improves.

Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
  • Click on your Wi-Fi network, and then select "Forget." Afterward, reconnect by selecting your network and entering the password.

Update Wi-Fi Drivers:

  • Ensure that your Wi-Fi drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding your Wi-Fi adapter, right-clicking, and selecting "Update driver."

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your system is up to date by checking for Windows updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Run Network Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Run the "Internet Connections" troubleshooter to identify and fix any issues.

Disable and Re-enable Wi-Fi:

  • In the Network & Internet settings, disable Wi-Fi and then re-enable it.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
  • Scroll down and click on "Network reset." This will remove and reinstall all network adapters.

Check Power Management Settings:

  • In Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter, go to Properties, and under the Power Management tab, make sure the option to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

Check for Interference:

  • Other electronic devices or neighboring Wi-Fi networks can cause interference. Try changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router.

Perform a System Restore (if applicable):

  • If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a point where the Wi-Fi was working fine.

Remember to create a system restore point before making significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
