Hello, I have a HP Omen 870-213W running windows 10. For the first time today i tried using my CD-rom drive and when i insert the CD into the tray and close it nothing happens. I tried restarting and a few other things to get it to run but still wont run. When i open the 'Device Manager" scroll down to DVD/CD-Rom drives and open that folder it shows me (hp HLDS DVDRRW GUD1N) I click on it to open the properties and under "general" it says THIS DEVICE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. Maybe thats the issue? Do I need to download a program to be able to run PC games on Disc? Please help!

Hi @JAYHAAS56,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
There are a few possible reasons why your CD-ROM drive is not responding.
- The disc may be damaged or dirty: If the disc is scratched or dirty, your CD-ROM drive may not be able to read it. Try cleaning the disc with a soft, lint-free cloth and see if the CD-ROM drive can read it.
- The CD-ROM drive may be faulty: If the drive is faulty, it may not be able to read discs. You can try inserting another disc and see if the drive responds. If the drive still doesn't respond, it may be faulty and may need to be replaced.
- The driver for the CD-ROM drive may be missing or outdated: Check to see if the driver for the CD-ROM drive is installed and up to date. To do this, open the Device Manager and look for the CD-ROM drive. If it has a yellow exclamation mark next to it, it means the driver is missing or outdated. You can try updating the driver by right-clicking on the CD-ROM drive and selecting "Update driver."
- The auto-run feature may be disabled: Check to see if the auto-run feature is enabled. To do this, open File Explorer and right-click on the CD-ROM drive. Select "Properties" and then click on the "AutoPlay" tab. Make sure the "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" option is selected.
- The disc may not be compatible with your CD-ROM drive: Some CD-ROM drives may not be able to read certain types of discs, such as rewritable discs or discs with a different format. Try inserting a different type of disc to see if the drive can read it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
