hp envy desktop T
Microsoft Windows 11

I just bought an HP Envy Desktop TE01.  I want to connect it to an older Dell Monitor.  The port for the monitor that is in the middle of the back of the desktop did not fit the monitor connection so I took off a black cover from a port on the upper left hand side of the back of the computer and the monitor connection fit that.  So I connected the monitor at that other port.  But I can't get the computer to connect to the monitor.  Do I have to use the monitor port in the middle of the back of the computer?  You can tell I am a novice.

No you can not use that port, it is disable that why it is covered.
