II assume the data on the recovery partition is only for windows 7. Would there be any problems with deleting the data in the recovery partition or the partition itself a year after updating to win 10?

Hi
You have a digital entitlement to reinstall Windows 10 on this PC for as long as it is functional.
The Windows 7 Recovery partition is not relevant.
I hope you made an HP Recovery disc set or USB drive in case you have to go back to the factory operating system for HP support or general troubleshooting.

@45latte, welcome back to the forum.
This will not be a problem if you made the Recovery media when you bought the computer. It will allow you to do the Recovery if necessary. Otherwise, you will have to buy a full version of Win 10 if you have problems.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.
