Hello,
I am considering upgrading the processor in my HP Compaq 8200 Elite computer to an Intel Core i7-2600. However, I want to ensure that this processor is compatible with my motherboard and the current BIOS version 2.06.
My questions are as follows:
Is BIOS version 2.06 sufficient to support the Intel Core i7-2600 processor (LGA 1155 socket)
If not compatible, is a BIOS update required to make the processor work correctly
Could you provide a list of supported processors for my system?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,

Hi:
I believe that the processor will work with BIOS v.2.06.
I bought the 8200 Elite when it first came out in 2011 and still use it today.
I believe that it had the original BIOS and my PC came from HP with the i7-2600 processor installed.
Below is the link to the HP Quickspecs which has the list of processors they offered in the model series as well as a lot of other useful information.

How long wow
Do you think I should update the bios from 2.06 to 2.28 with a link that you left in 2017, brother, are you famous with the HP Compaq 8200 Elite, do you recommend it? My license plate is 1495 and the person's license plate number was 1496. Do you think there is a difference?

If you found a link where I posted the steps to do that, you can update the BIOS to v2.28.
The CMT and SFF PC's use the exact same BIOS files.
The reason I kept my 8200 Elite CMT PC all these years is I have 32 GB of memory in it, a 2.5" SATA SSD and an AMD Radeon R7 450 graphics card in it.
It still runs great and even though the PC is not supported for W11, it runs W11 24H2 just fine with the hardware I have in it.
