Omni 100 5154
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I realize this is a desktop board and I am asking about an All-in-One but that option was not available in the drop down.

I have an older Omni 100 5154 and wanted to replace the old drive with an SSD. I cloned the drive and installed the new SSD. The Omni would not boot. After hitting the power button, no lights would come on. I cloned the drive to another standard hard drive and tried that and it booted right up. I tried removing the power cord and holding down the power button and the fan starts but no light on the front power button. I've done this 3 times with thress different softwares and get the same results. I'm wondering if my computer will support an SSD. If I go to disk Manager and look at the original disk and compare it to the new SSD, they appear identical.  Is there a BIOS update or something else I can try to get this working? I've never had this issue with other computers. Appreciate any suggestions.

Sorry, but I don't have the specific details, but folks using the latest new SATA SSDs (not the M.2 SSDs) have reported problems in all but the newest PCs with the SATA controllers.

The older SATA controllers, like the one in your Win 7-era PC, have problems with some of the newer high-end SATA SSDs,

If you can, you should try a medium-end SSD like a Crucial MX series, as those are not as fast, but they work better with the older SATA controllers.

Thanks for your response. I was thinking this was probably a compatibility issue with a newere drive. It's a SandiskSSDPlus that I was trying to use. AS I understand it there are multiple ways to boot and the Bios probably won't handle anything other than MBR. I have anothe older HP Slimline and that worked fine with the same SSD drive. I was just trying to speed up this All-in-One but it looks like I'll just leave it like it is. I also tried using a USB Display to add a second display and that wouldn't work either.

You would think that one USB-to-Display adapter would be like any other, but I had to go through three to get one that worked with my desktop -- and that one came from RadioShack, now defunct.  IF this one ever goes out, I'll probably have to buy a new video card -- one that can handle three displays.
