Update: I was advised to disable VMD in the bios but it's not there. Then I'm trying to download the IRST driver and it's not letting me. I also see in some diagnostics that it says I have W10 which came with it and in some W11 which I upgraded to. I would like to install the driver and thanks for any help.
I get an error message when I try it.
Windows 11 Home
HP TE 01 0034
16GB Intel Hynix
SK Hynix 512 GB SSD
USB Samdata 16GB USB Flash
Windows Media Creation Tool from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11
When I try to boot to it the error comes up.

Hi @mikeypark ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with the Windows installation tool can't detect the SSD due to missing Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) drivers. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Verify the OS on the HP Website
- Check HP's Support Page for the TE-01 0034 model. If it incorrectly detects Windows 10, use the manual search feature to find drivers for your model.
- Ensure that you're selecting the appropriate Windows version (Windows 11) from the dropdown, if available.
Step 2: Download the IRST Driver
- Visit the Intel Download Center:
- Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) Driver Download
- Search for the Intel RST drivers for Windows 11.
- Choose the Floppy Disk Driver Version:
You need the "F6 driver" (not the regular setup.exe) for loading during installation. - Download and Extract:
Download the zip file and extract its contents to a second USB drive.
Step 3: Load the IRST Driver During Installation
- Insert both:
- The Windows 11 installation USB created with the Media Creation Tool.
- The USB containing the IRST driver files.
- Boot from the Windows 11 installation USB.
- When you encounter the "Install Driver to Show Hardware" error:
- Click Load Driver.
- Browse to the location of the IRST driver files on the second USB.
- Select the appropriate driver for your setup and continue.
Step 4: Update BIOS Settings (If Needed)
- Access the BIOS:
- Restart the computer and press Esc, F10, or the key specific to your system.
- Check for VMD Configuration:
- Look for "Intel VMD" or "RAID Configuration" options in the BIOS.
- If found, you can temporarily disable VMD to bypass the IRST requirement. If not, proceed with the driver method.
- Save changes and retry the installation.
Step 5: Troubleshoot Driver Installation Error
If the HP support site blocks the download, consider:
- Downloading drivers on another device and transferring them via USB.
- Contacting HP Support directly for assistance.
- Using the Intel-provided IRST driver for generic support.
Let me know if you need further clarification!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
