Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased HP 759938-001 NVIDIA GeForce GTX745 4GB Video Card and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 1GB DDR3 Graphics Card and am unable to download the drivers to a new Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 7200RPM 3.5" SATA Hard Drive.  Installed Windows 10 Pro using a HP Envy 700-239 (GTX635) but HP Pavilian HPE H8 1360t won't pick up either graphic card.

Where can I find these drivers to download to a USB and will I have to update the BIOS.

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Please clarify whether you can't download Nvidia drivers or you can't install the drivers because your PC will not boot when you install the GTX 745.

Do the following things before you install the new 745:

1. Uninstall all current graphics drivers. You want to be using Windows generic graphics drivers before you install the new graphics card.

2. You must go to the UEFI BIOS to disable Secure boot and enable Legacy boot (Link to instructions) before you install the new graphics card. Expand "Secure boot settings for desktop computers". You must reboot after saving the changes in the BIOS. You must enter a confirmation code to complete this BIOS tweak.

Now install the new graphics card. Install current Nvidia drivers.

Tip, download Nvidia drivers to your PC before doing anything.

Disconnect from the network after you install the new card and before you boot the PC with the new card. Microsoft will install it's limited or an older version of Nvidia drivers if you are connected to the network.

Install the Nvidia drivers. Connect to the network.

Regards

I initially removed the Seagate 2TB hard drive and GeForce 630GTX graphics card from my HP Pavilion HPE H8 1360t and replaced them with a NEW Seagate 3TB and a NVIDIA GeForce 745 GTX.  I was able to install Windows 10 Pro while the 630GTX was still on but after taking it off, I wasn't able to get back in because there weren't drivers on the hard drive to connect the 745 GTX graphics card.  I took it out of the 1360t and put it in a HP Envy 700-239.  It would only show drivers for the GeForce 635GTX that came in the HP Envy desktop.and none for the GeForce 745GTX or any other drivers that did not come preinstalled.  I guess my question is, "how can I sign into Windows 10 with the GeForce 745GTX on the desktop and download drivers for the GeForce 745GTX if I can't get in?  Do I need to update something in the Bios and if so, what is it?  I initially switched back to the Pavilion with the GTX630 card; however, it appears the system wanted to update the GTX630 drivers when I was trying to download drivers for GTX745.  When I installed the GTX745, I wasn't able to download or upgrade anything because I wasn't able to get into with the GTX 745 drivers. I'm assuming it would be much easier if I had the disc that came with the GTX745 Graphics Card; however, I do not have it.  I plan to follow the instructions below   to see where it takes me.  Thanks.

Hi Jaabree,

You're very welcome.

I have upgraded graphics cards on HP systems such as your with no problems.

Just follow the steps in my first response.

You can do this graphics card upgrade on your HP PC.

Maybe things are getting complicated when using different HDDs. Use the HP factory drive with the factory operating system installed when doing the graphics card upgrade.

You should be using Microsoft generic graphics drivers when physically installing a new graphics card.

Thank You HP Community!  Thank you so much for the information you gave as this was my first attempt in installing a graphic card.  As a beginner and having paid someone $75.00 to put two sticks of memory ram in a desktop computer thinking I got a deal only to be showed the shop just snapped the ram into the two slots … I decided to ask the communities for help and boy have you guys come through.  It was difficult for me to explain what was happening; however, you figured it out  (I needed to disable the secure bootand gave good instructions and I am now on my HP Pavilion 1360t with a new hard drive, new upgraded ram and much to my relief ... my HP 759938-001 NVIDIA GeForce GTX745 4GB PCI-e HDMI/ DVI/ DP Video Card. These 3 upgrades have given my computer quit a boast and thanks to help from this community …I was able to do it myself.
