@Radred, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
To resolve the issue of missing media drivers when downloading or installing Windows 11 using an ISO from Ubuntu, follow these steps:
Steps to Resolve Missing Drivers Issue:
Check Your BIOS Settings:
- Ensure that your BIOS settings are configured properly for installing Windows. This might include settings related to boot mode (UEFI/Legacy) and secure boot.
Download the Latest ISO:
- Make sure you have the latest Windows 11 ISO from the official Microsoft website. Drivers in older ISO versions may not be compatible with recent hardware.
Create a USB Installation Media:
- Use tools like Windows Media Creation Tool on a Windows system to create a bootable USB drive. This tool ensures that all necessary drivers are included in the installation media.
Use HP Driver Discs Before Windows Installation:
- If you have HP driver discs for your hardware, install drivers for your workstation before proceeding with Windows installation. These driver discs can often resolve compatibility issues.
- You can download relevant HP drivers from HP Support.
Check for Linux-Based Drivers:
- If you were running Ubuntu, ensure you’ve checked for any necessary BIOS updates or other firmware updates from the manufacturer's website.
Install Windows from USB:
- Boot your system using the USB drive and follow the installation process. During installation, if asked for additional drivers, you can point the installer to the directory on the USB drive containing the drivers.
Upgrade After Installation:
- Once Windows 11 is installed, use Windows Update to download and install the latest system updates and drivers. You can also check HP's site for any specific updates for your hardware model.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
