So I bought a new Windows 10 creators pre installed laptop with touch screen. It ran into numorous problems which I luckly fixed by resetting my pc and recreating my account. However now my wallpaper and other settings won't sync to the new pc from this one on set up. I log into my microsoft and nothing syncs it just goes to the default image.
I can oddly sync the other way though by changing the border or background on the new one it syncs to the old one. It just won't do it the other way.
I have tried even disabling my account manually from the old one and then reconnecting it it still does not work.
Also it did work at first then stopped suddenly after updating last night. It went suddenly back to the default view after the update finished.

Hi @ErikaRam,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you need assistance in syncing the setting on your new PC. Don't worry I'll do my best to help you with this.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Could you provide me with the exact model of the PC? Use this link to find it: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Did you install a retail copy of Windows or OEM version?
In the meantime, while you respond to this post let's try these steps here:
Solution 1 – Change Feedback and Diagnostics Settings
The main cause of sync problems for most people are wrong Feedback and diagnostics settings. Once you change Feedback and Diagnostics settings, you should be able to sync your settings normally again. To change these settings, do the following:
- Open Settings
- Go to Privacy, Feedback & diagnostics
- Your Diagnostics and usage data settings are probably set to Basic. Just change it to Enhanced or higher
Changing Feedback and Diagnostics settings should solve the sync problem. But if you’re still unable to sync your settings, even after changing the Feedback and diagnostics settings, than something’s probably not right with your Microsoft Account.
Solution 2 – Sign in With Different Microsoft Account
Since syncing and Microsoft account are tightly connected, if you’re not able to sync your settings, maybe your Microsoft account is damaged. To check that, you should log in with another Microsoft account, and see if the problem still exists. If you don’t have have a Microsoft account, head over to this page, to create one.

Once you’ve created another Microsoft account, follow these instructions to login to it on your Windows 10 computer:
- Go to Settings, Accounts
- Go to Add Microsoft Account
- Enter login info of your new account and follow further instructions
- Once you login to the new Microsoft account, check if you’re able to sync your settings now. If you are, problem was definitely in your previous account.
That should be all, I hope these solutions helped you to solve the syncing problem in Windows 10. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, just reach for the comment section below.
Let me know if those steps worked for you.
If they did, that’s awesome!
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

Thank you so much this fixed it actually. Though now I do not know for sure if the person who helped me still has access to controlling my pc or not because my thing took forever to reboot and the access thing was gone when it restarted. I wanted to tell them thank you that it fixed it.

I have tried both of these things.
I have my thing set on full so it's not that. Again it syncs some things but not others. I have things in one drive that are not syncing at all and my desktop when I change it on one thing does not change on the other.
Someone I thought helped me with this cause it did change for a moment but then after running updates it unsyncs everything again.
