Hello,

I'm having difficulty updating my bios, when i download the bios update and run it, it extracts the files but after that the next part of the update doesn't start. Bitlocker is off and so is real time virus protection but i cannot get it to work. Any help is appreciated

Hi:

An info page is supposed to open after you run the BIOS update.

That is because there are a few ways to update the BIOS.

If the info page didn't open, you go into the folder where the 00.02.71 BIOS update file was unpacked to: C\SWSetup\sp80501.

There should be a HTML file to open and it will have the various methods to update the BIOS.

The method I recommend is the F10 Setup BIOS flash method.

You get a USB flash drive, format it with the FAT32 file system.

Inside the sp80501 folder the is a DOS flash folder.

Copy the files in that folder to your USB flash drive.  Just the files, not the folder.

Restart the PC.

Press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the f10 Setup option.

Select the File tab>Flash System ROM command.

Select the USB flash drive.

The PC should 'see' the files on the flash drive.

Follow the onscreen instructions to update the BIOS.

No matter what button I push the screen is black, no menus pop up nor bios options. I’ve tried escape and all the F keys it will just display a black screen

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with any problems like that.

All of my HP business desktops allow me to access the BIOS using the F10 key and I update the BIOS by using the procedure I referenced.

I figured out it’s because my Ssd is in legacy mode so now I just need to switch it
