690-0048no

Hello I'm looking for support I've owned and successfully used my pc for over 5 years that being a 690-0048no hp Pavillion with a i5 9400 and 1660 ti, I've ran into a bios corruption issue after attempting a upgrade I originally had video when the error first occurred however I am having issues trying to get output or even boot into the usb recovery tool in a attempt to repair and fix my pc, I've unplugged my hdd and most other devices do I also need to perhaps unplug my ssd so it will look towards the usb drive for recovery?

Can you get into the BIOS or run diagnostics?  If not then the bios is corrupted.

I assume you cannot get into the BIOS nor run diagnostics and you need to recover the bios.  Unfortunately, this can be a real problem.

First, was there a problem that you tried to fix and you upgraded the bios on purpose?  I assume your system was working fine and you just wanted the newest bios or perhaps Microsoft suggested a bios update and this caused the problem.

Have you tried the "B" recovery procedure?

Click here to see how to recover your BIOS.  Since you mentioned a USB then l assume you did 1, 2, and the first part of 3.

For the second part of 3 you will need a USB flash drive and possibly an older BIOS if the recent BIOS caused the problem

It would help if the USB had an LED so you could tell if it was working.

Your bios collection is here and I picked one from Dec 2022 to try to use

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp143501-144000/sp143841.exe

Follow the instructions shown for the second part of "3"

When you turn the laptop on, the LED in the USB should flash once.  A minute or two later it should start flashing to indicate the files are being loaded.

If this does not help consider replacing the BIOS chip but you may find the cost might exceed a motherboard replacement unless you do it yourself..

I can provide some resources if you are interested in the above approach but you will need some tools and experience.
