HI Folks. I wanted to install windows 10 clean over an existing windows 7 install. I went through the usual steps of deleting the existing partitions to start from scratch. Not long into starting the file transfer, etc., and error screen comes up indicating "windows could not update the computers boot configuration . Installation cannot proceed." Then I tried to install windows 7 back on the computer. Same issue. Its something to do with the bios, but I haven't come across this prob before. Thanks for any help.

Problem solved with some help from another post on the same topic. 1. Disabled EFI boot in bios, set sata to IDE.
2. Installed windows 7 on an unallocated partition( the only Partition). 3. Updated bios to latest(there is a dos version available once you launch the exe and it unzips to the swsetup ? folder, so I could have accomplished the bios update without installing win 7. 4. Enabled EFI boot and set sata to AHCI in bios. 5. Installed Win 10 on the only partition ( unallocated) and the error did not appear. Done.
