Hi mmgtc
You are welcome.
It is too bad you purchased Windows 10.
I just built a new PC about ten days ago. Activated Windows 10 using an unused OEM Windows 7 product key. Your Windows 8/8.1 product key would have given you a digital license if you had been able to successfully upgrade to Windows 10.
It looks like the integrated Intel Graphics device/driver is not compatible with Windows 10. Intel has not updated the graphics drivers to run on Windows 10.
HP is not providing Windows 10 driver support for your PC because your PC was released for sale in early 2013.
You could try installing an inexpensive Windows 10 compatible PCie x16 (Gen2.0 or Gen3.0) graphics card. You have a UEFI BIOS so newer AMD or Nvidia graphics card should work. You would have to use a single slot graphics card that will work when paired with your PC's 220 watt power supply.
An upgrade may still fail. A clean install might work.
Back up data if you are going to try this.
I don't think I would try this as you may run into other driver problems. Remember, HP is not providing any driver support when using Windows 10. Microsoft may not provide any support either.

Hi
Please provide a specific HP product number.
The product number is needed to check components, BIOS version, and specific product release for sale date.
Microsoft should know if you have hardware incompatibilities that would stop a successful Windows 10 installation.
It is good you are looking for corroboration.

Your computer: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03791266
Product number - H5P63AA
HP provides installation instructions, compatible software, and updated drivers for most computers sold after August 2013.
- If you purchased your computer prior to August 2013, HP has not tested or developed drivers for your computer model. Some features might not work, or the installation might not be successful.
However, you can "experiment":
1. For free, download Windows 10 from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
2. create the installation media (as instructed in #1)
3. boot your computer from that media
4. when asked for the 25-character product-key, click "I do not have one"
5. the installation will finish
6. open Device Manager, to see if all the necessary device-drivers have been loaded
You now have a "trial" version of Windows 10, that will work for a few days.
If you are satisfied, purchase a product-key, online, and "activate" Windows.
