Hi @Oliviafrown ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your Chromebook is not turning on, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check the Power Adapter:

  • Make sure that the power adapter is securely plugged into both the Chromebook and a functional power outlet.
  • Confirm that the power LED on the Chromebook or the charging indicator is lit.

Hard Reboot:

  • Perform a hard reboot by holding down the power button for at least 10 seconds until the device turns off. Then, press the power button again to turn it back on.

Check for Signs of Life:

  • Look for any signs of life such as lights, sounds, or fan activity when attempting to turn on the Chromebook. If there are no signs of activity, it could be a hardware issue.

Battery Issues:

  • If the battery is completely drained, the Chromebook may not turn on. Connect the device to the power adapter and wait for a few minutes before attempting to turn it on again.

Inspect for Physical Damage:

  • Check the Chromebook for any physical damage, loose connections, or broken components. If there is visible damage, it may need professional repair.

Try a Different Outlet:

  • Plug the power adapter into a different power outlet to ensure that the issue is not related to the power source.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Some Chromebooks have a small reset button. Consult your device's manual to locate this button and perform a hard reset.

Connect to an External Display:

  • If the Chromebook has an external display port, connect it to an external monitor or TV to see if the display is working. This can help determine if the issue is with the screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
